Berlin Tempelhof International Airport

Tempelhof International Airport (IATA: THF, ICAO: EDDI) a.k.a. Berlin Tempelhof (German: Flughafen Tempelhof) is an airport in Berlin, Germany, situated in the south-central borough of Tempelhof-Schöneberg. This airport is commonly known as Tempelhof as well.

Tempelhof is the birthplace of air travel. In the Twenties and Thirties, the airport developed into the world's first travel hub. After the Second World War, the Americans took over the airport in 1945. A few years later, the Berlin airlift kept supplies flowing into West Berlin from June 1948 to May 1949, transforming Tempelhof into a symbol of a free Berlin. Today Tempelhof has primarily regional connections, though it retains its historical significance for Berlin. More than half a million passengers flew into or out of Tempelhof in 2005.
